Top seed Wozniacki 'blows away' Cibulkova to storm into US Open semi-finals

US Open top seed Caroline Wozniacki remains on track for her first Grand Slam title after booking her place in the semi-finals after defeating Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova.

Wozniacki, last year's runner-up, dominated the quarterfinal to win 6-2 7-5 on an extremely windy night at Flushing Meadows.

"This felt like playing in a hurricane, but it was the same for both players and I'm so happy to get through," Sky Sports quoted Wozniacki, as saying.

"When we were practicing I thought 'Oh, it's not that windy today', but when we came out here I knew it was about just surviving, getting as many balls back in the court as possible and just run," she added.

Wozniacki will now take on Russia's Vera Zvonareva in the last four. (ANI)
